i always leave these entries feeling like i’ve just shared a bottle of wine with a friend who reminds me that creativity and connection matter—especially when the world feels unsteady. this one in particular hit so many notes: the urgency of creating, the quiet power of joy, and the magic of building spaces (physical and emotional) where people feel like they belong. thank you for continuing to write, gather, and dream out loud. it’s contagious in the best way.
I sure hope you're going to write lots of books about your incredible existence, just publish the parts of your diary/journal/calendar you're willing to share and you could fill volumes over which readers like me can drool with envy.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights so beautifully. To your point, "I hate how much creative energy he's already sucked from us" I just watched a Tedx by Amie McNee called "The case for making art when the world is on fire." She implores us to get busy creating because it does make the world a better place and we don't even have to be highly accomplished - just engaged in creativity.
I appreciate so much how you state the dichotomy of staying engaged and compassionate during this chaotic time, while having to go about our everyday lives, working and creating. And that quote from George Packer. Oof. Somehow it is comforting(?) to know that others feel this way, too.
I still need to finish the second episode of the Pee Wee Herman doc, but there was a lot that I did not know about him, so it was very insightful! But I really have to say, I loved it when he was Murphy Brown's assistant! <3

its sooooo good!
Love your newsletter; however, I was a little disappointed at a glaring gramatical error. "Sean and I's..."
Ugh so cringy - thanks for catching. I just edited - love how you can do that on here. One thing, I am a human. ha
Literally they would be saying get out of your own way, i mean I am saying it too...ugh.
When I saw the headline, my first thought was the ridiculous, drug-fueled Elon Musk jump. Star jumps seems like a good label for that!
Ha ! omg star jumping with Sarah snook so much groovier! I'd love to do with her some day ha
